Mexico

Okay, it has been quite awhile since we last chit-chatted. Since I know you all want an update, here is what happened in Mexico.

I'm not one to travel by myself, so I invited my friends, Joan, Lacey and Jessie to come with me. We decided to go on a cruise - figured it was the most scenic way to visit the land of Mexico.

The boat was beautiful. The water the most wonderful shade of blue I've ever seen. The trip itself, definitely worth it.

The first pic is of me reading my favorite magazine, Diablo, at the airport. The thing I like best about the airport is people watching - what are some of those folks thinking! You're getting on a plane, not going to a club. Oh, well...

The second pic is of us pulling into port at our first stop - Acapulco. Look at that city just climb the side of that mountain - crazy!

While in Acapulco, we ended up going on this crazy hike to see some petroglyphs. To be honest, the carvings looked like some eight-year-old kid drew them. (See me with Joan.) They all had smiley faces and were stick people. Oh, well. At least we can say we saw them, right?

The next pic is of Manzanillo. What a great beach, look at that sand! Bet you wished you were there. I actually got in the ocean for the first time. Man, is that thing salty! I almost got swept away by the waves... definitely not a good place for a bunny my size to be. Much safer to stay on dry land.

Of course, while on the boat you have to make friends, right? I guess I'm just a social type of bunny and made quick friends with this towel-turtle. He was a pretty funny guy.

No vacation is complete without a little pampering. Too bad we were a robe short. I ended up sharing one with Lacey.

Okay! That's about it for now. Till next time...

Fresno

Check out my trip to Fresno! Pretty funny, right? I even found my big bunny pal hanging out in the airport. You don't get to see that every day.

As for the trip, we flew to Fresno from Reno and then rented a car. I can't complain too much since I actually got to drive!

After some searching I found the next clue! It's looking like we're going international - MEXICO! I could use some sun. I've been told I'm a bit pale. Till next time - TTB.

A Clue

TTB back in Reno. While in Virginia City, we found a map leading us to Fresno, CA. I can't wait to go! See you once we get back!

Virginia City

Sorry about the delay in postings. Been super busy traveling around! Lacey, Jessie and I went to visit historic Virginia City! Isn't it cute! It took us only a few minutes to figure out that we were supposed to visit the Bucket of Blood Saloon!

The historic church, currently under some construction.

Look who got into some trouble!

They said they'd toss us into the jail... we just didn't believe them!

We eventually broke out of jail and found our next clue! Looks like we're going to Sunny California!

Map #3

Hello from Reno! I'm having some technical error and can't seem to upload my map image from NYC? Weird. Well, in any case, it looks like it’s road-trip time! Virginia City, here I come!

Did you know Virginia City was once a booming town in the 1800s, with silver and gold all around? As part of the Comstock Lode, men arrived poor and left with millions. Some famous folks who once called Virginia City home were John Mackay, of whom UNR is a beneficiary (ever heard of Mackay School of Mines?) and even Mark Twain.

Anyways, the note on the map reads “Blood + Bucket = Good Time.” Well, if that’s not a gruesome omen, I don’t know what is. Wish me luck!

NYC for me!

Hello from NYC! What a unique city! I traveled all over looking for where the next clue could be. I went to Radio City Music Hall,
Central Park
and even a random bar.

(Do you see that incriminating photo BC took of me? Someone spiked my carrot juice!)

Anyways, I even stopped to ask directions from this lovely local who was selling his demo CD.

He was quite helpful, actually. Well, at first he told me to quit talking about his mama. Then I replied that I said, MoMA, not mama. Then I think he got it. Ended up sending me to the Museum of Modern Art or the MoMA!

Once there, we all decided to take a tour. Which was really interesting. So many great pieces to see, so little time.

After spending some time contemplating a few works of art. I ended up finding my next clue, which I’ll share after I return back to Reno!

So, that’s it from NYC!

Obamicon Me!

Since I’m waiting at the airport for the plane to NYC, I decided to hop on to the internet. Lacey sent me this link to obamicon me and look what I made! So, if you’re looking for something random to do, why not make a snazy Obama-campaign-type-poster-thingy of yourself?

Have fun and the next time you hear from me, I’ll be in the Big Apple!

Insurance is the way to go.

The Traveling Bunny here with the latest and greatest on my travels.

Before traveling to New York via “carry-on luggage,” I’ve decided I should probably get some insurance. Mostly insurance for my car when I drive but also for my pad, should anything happen while I’m out and about. I just want to make sure my priceless Swarovski crystal is covered. And, always wanting to save a few carrots when I can, I gave my good friend Jason Metzger with MetLife Auto & Home in Reno a ring. He set me up for a meeting with their top sales rep – Snoopy!

Luckily, I caught Snoopy before he took off for some spring training… but it’s not spring yet? Weird. Anyways, I got a great deal and am saving a wheelbarrow full of carrots!

Now I’m really ready to get my travel on.

Map #2

Here’s the next part of the map I found. It’s actually a pretty good one this time. Looks like I’ll be going to the Big Apple! Wonder if they have any big carrots there.

The clue reads: “Take a bite out of the big apple and experience all there is to do. Be sure to check out the home to Cézanne, Picasso, Miró and van Gogh. Don’t worry – your mama also likes the MoMA.”

How do they know what my mom likes? Weird.

Luckily my friend B.C. is traveling to NYC and offered to take me along! I still need to raise a few carrots to cover the “baggage” fee since that seems to be the way to travel for little guys like me. But that’s fine by me – as long as I get the next clue, I don’t need to travel by first class, although that would be a nice change. It’s getting a little old being stuffed into a bag with socks and other random items. Oh, well.

Look out NYC – here I come!

ps. Like the map? It's from Google! You should check it out!

Vegas Baby!

Greetings from sunny Las Vegas! It was a crystal clear winter’s day down here. Quite a difference from the typical winter snows up in Reno. What can I tell you about my adventures down here? Well… not a whole lot because what happens here stays here. Let’s just say there was some table-hopping, ice and new permanent ink.

Moving on to a more pressing matter, the map! The little Dr. Seuss type riddle at the bottom of the map got me thinking. It mentioned a “sign” and “stars.” So I thought SWEET! A trip to the fortuneteller to get my cards read. But then, that didn’t really make sense. So then I thought bigger. YES! The Fremont Street Experience with all its crazy lights and celebrities. But that wasn’t really a sign. Then it hit me. The iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign at the end of the Strip! It has a Star, Neon and is a Sign.

After some poking and prodding, I finally found the next clue! But you’ll have to wait until I get back to Reno to see the next piece. I’ll be sure to post it ASAP.

Check out my map

So here’s the part of the map that I got. It’s rather vague but I think it’s supposed to be pointing me towards Vegas. So, after some discussion, my travel agent said that if I raise $50 for the Food Bank, he’ll send me down! Pretty cheap, don’t you think? Although he did say something about stuffing me in his carry on… Not quite sure how I feel about that.

Lucky for me, some kind and generous folks have already donated to the cause, raising $50! I’ll soon be on my way to sunny Vegas. Wish me luck on my hunt.

Help me feed hungry kids!

Hi! I’m the traveling bunny and I need your help. You see, I have this dilemma; I found part of a treasure map with a city on it. I think if I travel to this city, I’ll be able to find the next part of the map, which will take me closer to the treasure. The only problem is I’m a little low on the funds right now. I would use my credit cards, except my friends Lacey and Jessie put them on deep freeze. Something about spending too much and not paying rent on time...

So, how about you spot me a bill or two? Why should you help fund my quest for treasure you ask? Well, I won’t really be using your money to pay for my trips. You see, the money will actually be going to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada to help feed hungry kids. Did you know that for every dollar donated, the Food Bank can provide four meals? That’s a lot of carrots for not a lot of bucks!

So, the way this works is I have this cousin Betty who knows this guy, who knows this other guy that’s the brother of this kid I went to school with… Anyway, there’s this great travel agent that said they’d send me wherever I need to go. I only need to raise a certain amount of money for the Food Bank for each leg of my trip. And then, WHAM! I’m on my way to treasure!
To show you that I’m doing my part, I plan to document my whole what adventures, or misadventures – and you can check it out! Just visit my blog here at TheTravelingBunny.Blogspot.com or go to ResolutionAThon.com. At either of these sites you’ll be able to track my progress and see what I’ve happened to hop upon.

So, help me help feed hungry kids. It’s tax deductible and we’ll share in the adventure together! Who knows where this map could lead us!

To sponsor me, go to ResolutionAThon.com and click on either Jessie or Lacey’s photo. Then click on our Donate button to pay by credit card. Or you can download the form and send in your “sponsorship.” Just be sure to make your check payable to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Either way, be sure to leave me a message about your sponsorship so I know how much you sent in so I can start packing my bags!

Thanks!
